Welcome to Dalehouse Farm Cottages
Dalehouse Farm (once known as Mulgrave Farm), has been farmed by the same family through four generations. For many years
the family were known for breeding and showing Cleveland Bay Horses one of them, Mulgrave Supreme was famously sold to the Queen in the 1960's.
Dalehouse Farm is situated 10 miles outside Whitby in the beautiful Hamlet of Dalehouse, which is within walking distance of the picturesque
village of Staithes.
Dalehouse Farm is a working farm with 26 Suckler Cows and Calves, 150 Breeding Sheep with Lambs and is owned and run by Gerard and Elaine Welford.
This wonderful location is equally perfect for family holidays or a romantic and restful break for couples.
Cyclists are very welcome. Dalehouse Farm Cottages are approved by Visit England after meeting the criteria of the Cyclists Welcome Scheme.
Dalehouse Farm Cottages have been rated under the National Accessible Scheme as suitable for Part Time Wheelchair users. Dalehouse Farm Cottages
has also met the criteria for the Families Welcome Scheme and the Walkers Welcome Scheme.
Guests are welcome to shop online and have their groceries delivered directly to the cottage ready for their arrival (with prior arrangements with the owner).
The Local Area
Post Box Cottage and Mulgrave Cottage are situated 10 miles from Whitby just off the A174 in a small Hamlet called Dalehouse. The nearby village
of Staithes is approximately 0.5 miles away by car (or a 5 minute walk) offering a pub, village shop and Post Office, Pizza Shop, Fish and Chips and a small
Co-op store also a bus stop on the Whitby - Middlesbrough/Scarborough route.
The cottage is a great place from which to explore this stretch of the North Yorkshire coast. Whitby is only a short drive away and with its huge sandy
beach, museums, cafes, galleries, shops and other attractions there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy. Also nearby are the pretty Esk Valley villages of
Grosmont (with it's steam railway) and Goathland (made famous through the filming of Heartbeat). There are many other small villages nestled in the Esk
Valley making this a wonderful area for keen walkers or cyclists.
Other places of interest include Robin Hood's Bay, Sandsend and Runswick Bay, which are all easily accessible with wonderful sandy beaches. Across
the moors are Thornton Dale, Pickering and York, which are all worth a visit. Dalby Forest offers miles of walking and cycling paths and there are many great
wildlife spots nearby such as Falling Foss and May Beck.
Dalehouse Farm is situated perfectly for the Cleveland Way which is very popular with walkers.

The Cottages are available throughout the year with change over for weekly bookings on a Saturday.
Short breaks are also offered subject to availability.
